Hi! My name is Marcela
Speranza. I am Tandilnet's webmistress, that means I am the designer, writer,
photographer and sole responsible for everything you find in this site... and
that includes the mistakes and bad links!
I started Tandilnet over
a year ago because there was not much information about this beautiful city written
in English and, don't ask me why, but than made me angry. So I decided to do something
about it. I know my English is far from perfect, but I have tried to do my best
to make Tandil known to all the people who can't speak Spanish.
I would like to translate
Tandilnet into other languages such as German, Portuguese, French, and Italian.
I have tried several translators, both online and software, but none of them did
the job as well as I wanted it, so I had to give up the idea. Why don't I get
a human translator? For the same reason this site is not professional... I can't
afford it, my budget amounts to $ 0.
I'm not making any money
with Tandilnet, not because I wouldn't like to, but simply because I haven't been
able to find many sponsors, and the ones I do have, barely pay for the site's
expenses: hosting, dial-up connection, etc. I am looking for volunteers to do
the translations, though, so maybe some day you will be able to see Tandilnet
in your own language.
I have been rambling. I'd
better pay attention to the title: "About the author", and tell you
about me.
I am 32 years old. I am
married and have two wonderful boys. I am an English teacher, but stopped working
after ten years to stay home and take care of my children. My husband's job forces
him to be away from us for months at a time, and I'm what you would call a work-a-holic,
so when my eldest started to show signs that "not everything was fine",
I knew something had to change. Now, I believe staying at home was the best decision
I have ever made.
I discovered the internet
when I was pregnant with my second child and had to stay in bed for five months.
It was love at first sight. I haven't been able to stay away from the net ever
since. I'm on the internet at least four hours a day (you should see my phone
bills!). I use it for lots of things: research, communication with friends and
family, searching for a real home-based business, and looking after what
I call "my third child": Tandilnet. Of course, there are things I just
hate about internet: XXX sites, sites that crash my browsers, "get-rich-quick"
lies, and spammers, but the world is not perfect and neither is the net.
Well I guess that's about
it. I know it's not much. I'll try to improve it with time. I'd like to thank
you for visiting Tandilnet, and I hope you have a good time on the site and can
find what you are looking for. If you can't find it, drop me a line and I will
try to find it for you, or add it to the site.
